Metabolism Boosters – Important Things You Might Not Be Aware of
Metabolism Boosters – Important Things You Might Not Be Aware of
Your metabolic rate is essential to winning the war on weight. If it’s as slow as a turtle, you’re not going to be burning enough calories to make you lose those excess pounds. You need to hasten it up in order for you to see visible results in your waistline. Obviously, exercise is one of the most common metabolism boosters known to man. It’s a core component in any weight loss regimen that without it, you can never lose fat the healthy way. Cardiovascular exercises strengthen the heart while at the same time revving up your metabolic rate for a more efficient calorie burn even hours after the session is over. Resistance exercises with your own bodyweight or with free weights, meanwhile, help by toning your body’s muscles. More muscles translate to faster metabolism for more calorie burn.
But did you know that apart from exercise, there are also other ways by which you can boost your metabolic rate? By making these habits a part of your lifestyle, you are able to speed up your metabolism so you burn fat faster. Take note that these take some getting used to, so don’t give up right away when you feel yourself slipping. If you stick with these practices for at least three weeks, you should be able to see some obvious changes in your energy levels as well as in your weight loss initiative.

One of these metabolism boosters which, by the way, is fairly easy to incorporate into your diet is to drink green tea. Loaded with anti-oxidants and a compound that speeds up your metabolic rate, it’s a better and much healthier alternative to coffee. The taste may take a bit of getting used to, but try drinking it in the morning with a sweet bread and in the afternoon again and you’ll be craving for it in no time. If you’ve ever doubted this idea of green tea for weight loss, try looking at populations who guzzle tea like water– the Japanese, Koreans and Chinese– and you’ll immediately become a believer.
Where food is concerned, some of the best metabolism boosters are protein and spices. As much as 25% of calories in protein-rich foods are burnt off and this is the reason why most weight loss experts recommend eating more protein everyday. Spicy foods like chili peppers also raise your metabolic rate by as much as 50% for three hours after you eat. For chili lovers, this is a welcome way to lose weight.
You will also need to eat smaller meals more often everyday. Doing so speeds up your metabolism since your body will begin to burn food at a faster rate. If you were to eat only three heavy meals a day, there will be “lulls” in the times when your body will think that there is no more food that needs to be burned and that it will have to conserve energy since it does not know if it will be able to eat in the next few hours or so, figuratively speaking. By eating every two to three hours, with heavier meals scheduled during the day, it will have to rev up its metabolic rate so it can keep up with the steady “influx” of food.
These metabolism boosters should be incorporated into your lifestyle so you can lose weight and keep it off for life.

Boosting Your Metabolism What is Metabolism Anyway?
Boosting Your Metabolism What is Metabolism Anyway?
Before you can begin to boost your metabolism, it makes sense to explain exactly what metabolism is, and how it works – but do not worry, you only need to know the basics!
Some people think that the metabolism is a sort of organ, or a body part, that influences digestion. Actually, the metabolism is not any particular body part. It is the process by which the body converts food into energy.
Hence, you have likely heard of the phrase metabolic process used synonymously with the term metabolism, because they both mean the same thing.
The Medical Mumbo Jumbo
Again, do not worry – this is not a complicated medical text (which should be great news to most of you!), and so we do not need to spend an unnecessary amount of time and space focusing on the layered complexity of the human body and its extraordinary intelligence.
Without diving deeply into medical details (which are not relevant for our general understanding purposes) it is however helpful to briefly look at the biological mechanisms behind metabolism.
Metabolism, is the process of transforming food (e.g. nutrients) into fuel (e.g. energy). The body uses this energy to conduct a vast array of essential functions.
]]>
In fact, your ability to read this page, literally, is driven by your metabolism.
If you had no metabolism – that is, if you had no metabolic process that was converting food into energy – then you would not be able to move.
In fact, long before you realized that you could not move a finger or lift your foot, your internal processes would have stopped; because the basic building blocks of life – circulating blood, transforming oxygen into carbon dioxide, expelling potentially lethal wastes through the kidneys and so on – all of these depend on metabolism.
So do keep this in mind the next time you hear someone say that they have a slow metabolism. While they may struggle with unwanted weight gain due to metabolic factors, they certainly have a functioning metabolism. If they did not, they would not even be able to speak (because that, too, requires energy that comes from, you guessed it: metabolism!).
It is also worthwhile noting that, while we conveniently refer to the metabolic process as if it were a single function, it is really a catch-all term for countless functions that are taking place inside the body. Every second of every minute of every day of your life – even, of course, when you sleep – numerous chemical conversions are taking place through metabolism, or metabolic functioning, anabolism (building cells) and catabolism (breaking down cells), being two of those functions.
To sum up, metabolism can therefore reasonably be referred to as a harmonizing process that manages to achieve two critical bodily functions that, in a sense, seem to be at odds with each other.
So now you understand what metabolism is, and the two vital functions it controls (anabolism and catabolism), the link between metabolism and weight loss becomes clear. If your metabolism’s greater function becomes anabolism, then unless you are doing something to add lean muscle mass, the cells your body builds will be what you and I know as fat. But when you adopt a lifestyle and diet that promotes catabolism as your metabolism’s greater function, the resultant breaking down of cells in your body will translate into consistent weight loss.
And that is it – that is about as much as you need to know about what metabolism is in order to start boosting yours, and when you do, you will find out that it is not just a healthy way to lose weight, but one of the most incredibly easy ways to lose weight too!

Burn Away Stubborn Fat By Revving Up Your Metabolism With These Effective Weight Loss Strategies
Burn Away Stubborn Fat By Revving Up Your Metabolism With These Effective Weight Loss Strategies
Every time that I hear that someone is turning to weight loss supplements as opposed to natural ways of losing weight, it makes me shake my head in shame.
Learning the art of revving up your metabolism is one of the most powerful tactics to drop weight, hands down.
Some common ways of doing this include:
1. Having a healthy diet and eating right. Sorry for all you freezer-goodie lovers.
2. Exercising in the morning or in the late evening after a long fast.
3. Trying some different food preparation techniques like steaming lean meats or fruit juicing.
These common techniques will always be a good place to start, but constant determination and discipline are how you will finish and succeed.
The main reason that adopting a new diet and eating right are difficult is because we love having a routine. Once we start eating what we like at a certain time during the day, it’s hard to change.
If you love freezer goodies and saturated fats, why not try healthy and lean alternatives like real chicken as opposed to chicken poppers or baked chips instead of frozen french fries?
How often you exercise, and at what point during the day will really help with revving up your metabolism.
Do you know when most marathon runners practice their craft? They usually go out for an hour-long jog in the brisk morning air right after they roll out of be.
Do you know why they do this? It’s because a morning exercise routine is very effective way to increase your metabolic rate and supercharge weight loss.
Starting with a 20-minute morning walk is a great way to ease into a new exercise schedule.
Contrary to popular belief, steaming meats and juicing fruits are not just for infomercial actors.
Again, it might be difficult at first to adjust to a new diet, but always remember that with persistence and patience, good things will follow!
Now what’s all this cheering for steamed foods about? By steaming meats instead of cooking them in grease you can reduce sodium which helps to get rid of excess water weight.
Personally, I like to think that by steaming my foods, I’m preparing my meals to prolong my life as opposed to just stuffing my face.
And what’s all this talk about juicing fruits and vegetables? This is really a strategy for those who just have a hard time eating them because of the taste.
I’ll be honest, I really don’t care to eat a carrot that much, but when I turn it into liquid with a few bananas, it tastes absolutely delicious and is much more easily absorbed for my muscles after a workout.
Revving up your metabolism is so much more effective than any weight loss pill you’ll ever take. And weight loss pills aren’t usually delicious or leading to a new enjoyable hobby. Just keep your head down and stick to it to see the real favorable results in the end.

Weight Loss Foods: Curb Cravings and Boost Your Metabolism
Weight Loss Foods: Curb Cravings and Boost Your Metabolism
Article by Julie Pratt
A big part of losing weight is watching the foods you eat. Though exercise is an important part of any diet, about 80% of your success will depend upon the food you put into your body. Weight loss foods are any food that will aid your efforts by offering a benefit to your body. They can help you feel fuller longer, increase the calories you burn, or give your body energy so you have the motivation to stay active.
The following is a short list of food that can help you with your weight loss goals.
* Oats are a great addition to any diet. Even instant oatmeal has 3 to 4 grams of fiber per serving. Steel cut or rolled oats are the healthiest to eat, with 5 grams of fiber. Oats do a great job of filling you up, since they take a long time to digest. They have also been known to remove cholesterol from the bloodstream.
* Lean proteins also digest slowly. Our bodies need protein to help build up and maintain muscle while we are doing any kind of exercise program. Eggs, salmon, and even beef jerky are a few great ways to get a big boost of protein in your diet.
* Apples are extremely filling, and full of goodness. Packed with water, vitamins, and fiber, apples are a great choice for snacks in between meals.
* Yogurt is a great way to get in your daily servings of calcium, and some studies show that two servings of milk each day actually helps weight loss. Stick with the lower sugar variety and you can’t go wrong.
Weight loss foods provide many benefits to your daily diet. Not only are they healthy and low in calories, but they also give you an edge when it comes to taking the pounds off. Whether these foods fill you up, provide needed nutrients, or help your digestion, they are all great super foods to add to your diet. Next time you are trying to decide what to eat, substitute one of the above foods for something that may not be as good for your body. You will feel good about your choices and you will also give your diet a big boost.
